Here’s a pic of the guitar:įourth, my brother had a 6-string steel acoustic guitar, a Yamaha FG-433S with a hard case. He also gave me a whole bunch of electronic gizmos that I’ll have to sort through, they look like digital tuners & metronomes. I’ve decided to learn Classical first on a nylon from what I’ve been told, this is the best way to go to get technique down pat before getting into other guitars and musical styles. I sifted through and found 4 or 5 good “starter” books to start learning from.

Third, my dad had a 6-string nylon classical guitar, a Yamaha G-231 II with a hard case, along with a bucket (literally) of books. It looks pretty girly, but whatever – I can play it acoustic, or plug it into the mini-amp that came with my Peavey, or even into my computer with my Firewire audio interface. Second, my sister let me borrow her acoustic-electric guitar, as well as a guitar stand (floor stand with 3 hooks) and sheet-music stand. Honestly, I’ve secretly wanted an electric guitar since I first saw Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure ? Pretty awesome deal for the price! The Peavey isn’t the best by any means, but it’s the perfect starter guitar and I’m more than excited to get my hands on it. The kit included the guitar and a softcase for it, a strap, a 1/4″ cable, 3 pickups, a pick, digital tuner, a small powered amp, strings, and a training DVD.

I picked up a black Peavey Raptor electric guitar package from Amazon for $180 shipped. First, I have a good friend who plays electric guitar and recommended me a great starter setup at an awesome price. So after spreading the word about what I was doing, I had a whole bunch of good fortune.

If you’re not the religious type, feel free to call this the universe or fate or destiny or whatever you want, but the end result is the same – commitment brings you opportunities galore! This has become one of the guiding principles in my life: when you commit to something, God provides opportunities for you, opportunities that you had no clue existed before you committed yourself to a goal. Whatever you can do or dream you can begin it, boldness has genius, power and magic in it.īegin it now. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself then providence moves too.Īll sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. “Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. I decided to start learning music less than a week ago, and my workshop is already filled with no less than 5 guitars! I think this quote says it best: I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m constantly amazed at how the universe opens it’s doors to you when you commit yourself to something.
